Christoph Bürki was born in Biel, Switzerland. After finished his education to be primary school teacher he followed studies in Biology at the University of Bern.

With the diploma in his pocket, he began to work as a professional photographer. Nature and documentary photography are his main focus.

Actually besides his work for stock photographie and personal projects he is teaching photo courses, leading photo workshops and photo tours exclusively for Foto Video Zumstein in Bern.

 

2000 he won the "Fotopreis des Kantons Bern" for the reportage "the shepherd".

His reportage of "the shepherd" was exhibited in the Kunstmuseum Thun and the Leica Gallery.

 

1993 he had 2 highly commended images at the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the year, London.

 

Since 1993 his images are distributed by Gettyimages.
